Actress Sobhita Dhulipala recently shared her long-standing morning ghee coffee routine with fans. This popular drink combines brewed coffee with healthy fats like ghee. Read on to know whether ghee coffee is good for gut health or not.

Sobhita Dhulipala's morning drink is ghee coffee
Sobhita recently took to her Instagram and shared a picture of a small cup of coffee. She revealed that ghee coffee has been a part of her morning routine for several years. Calling the drink her "best friend since 2020," the actress said that she has it first thing in the morning. Her post has now sparked curiosity among fans about the popular drink and whether adding ghee to coffee is actually beneficial for health. Ghee coffee, also known as bulletproof coffee, has become a popular wellness trend, with many people adding healthy fats to their morning caffeine.
The drink is generally prepared by adding around one to two tablespoons of ghee to brewed coffee and mixing the mixture until it becomes smooth and frothy. The combination brings together the caffeine in coffee and the fat content of ghee.
Some people believe that this combination can provide longer-lasting energy and help them feel full for a longer period. However, the drink has also raised questions about its calorie content and whether it can truly be considered a healthy option.
Is ghee coffee actually healthy?
Gastroenterologist Dr Pal, who has more than 20 years of experience, earlier addressed the growing popularity of ghee coffee in a video. He explained that while people who enjoy the drink can have it, they should not treat it as a replacement for a complete meal.According to Dr Pal, ghee is calorie-dense, which means adding one or two tablespoons to coffee can significantly increase the overall calorie content of the beverage. While the drink contains fat and caffeine, it does not provide the complete nutritional balance of a proper breakfast.
The doctor explained that relying only on ghee coffee in the morning could leave a person's diet lacking important nutrients. A balanced breakfast typically includes a combination of nutrients, including protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, which a cup of ghee coffee cannot provide on its own.
Dr Pal's main message was moderation. People who enjoy ghee coffee do not necessarily need to completely avoid it, but they should understand what they are consuming and avoid treating the drink as a full meal.
Apart from discussing ghee coffee, Dr Pal also advised people to be mindful of their overall caffeine intake. He suggested avoiding caffeine after 3 pm, as consuming it later in the day can affect sleep for some people.
The doctor also stressed that the health impact of a drink depends on the overall diet and lifestyle of an individual. A single beverage cannot replace a balanced eating pattern or regular physical activity.
For those who enjoy ghee coffee, the takeaway is simple: it can be consumed in moderation, but it should not be viewed as a magic health drink or a substitute for breakfast.
