Raha likes running in the mornings before his children wake up, or in the evenings after finishing work.
Adrit Raha, CEO of Singapore-based health tech company Vivant, practises what he preaches.
Body “Running has been a part of my life for many years. I was on my school’s track and field team while in India, and also captained university teams in the US. I don’t compete anymore. But whenever I can, I choose to run. It’s how I unwind, switch off and detox. I tune in to Spotify, switch on the Runkeeper app, put on my trainers, and I’m good to go. Even a five-km run can really clear my mind after a busy week. I like running in the mornings before my children wake up, or in the evenings after finishing work. Since I am on the road a lot, I use the My Fitness Pal app to help track my calorie intake. It’s especially useful because I eat out frequently, so I need to pick my food choices wisely. I am a water baby, and enjoy a ritualistic birthday swim every year. It helps me reflect on the year gone by before celebrations for the day begin. Healthcare is an important space for me, personally and professionally. From cricket to football to golf, I like to keep myself updated with the latest from the sporting circuit worldwide.”
Soul “I am not a religious person, but there is something peaceful and soothing in the sound of the ‘Gayatri Mantra’. I like listening to it before the rest of the household wakes up and the business for the day gets underway.”
Mind “There are many great meditation apps out there which help guide one’s mind and practice. I was recently introduced to Headspace, and the short sessions it provides have been a good guide for a first-timer like me. In fact, when I step into the shower every morning, I make a to-do list for the day ahead, while also evaluating the previous day’s performance. Taking each day as it comes is an important philosophy to live by. I am a music lover and my tastes span a wide array of genres. I unwind by listening to Ustad Shujaat Khan, Zaker, DJ Miles, or even DJs Above and Beyond, who put me in a meditative state. Music is an easy way to unwind, and something you can do anywhere. Given my busy travel schedule and the fact that I am a father to two young daughters, I try to make time for my family as much as possible. It’s not always peaceful with two girls under the age of four, but it’s fun and helps me get into a different zone.”
