Starting off with a small barber shop, celebrity hairstylist Shivarama Bhandary has now added grooming products to his salon and spa chain.
From earning Rs 30 a month as a barber to owning 20 high-end salons, Shivarama Bhandary’s life is the perfect example of a rags to riches story. The man behind Shiva’s Salon was recently awarded as ‘Grooming Expert of the Year’ by Dia Mirza at the Times Power Men 2018.
“I thank the Times of India Group for this honour. All I have to say to young entrepreneurs is that follow your heart no matter how tough it appears to be. Eventually it will pay off.”
After a brief stint in Qatar as a barber, Shiva returned to India in 1988 and started a salon in Thane. By procuring secondhand furniture, he worked alone for the first 50 days. Today, he has more than 300 employees, all under Shiva’s Hair Designers Private Ltd.
Shiva’s has recently forayed into the beauty segment by making its own line of products under the brand name Shiva’s Trends. Infused with herbs and natural ingredients, the range of products includes shampoo, hair conditioner, skin tonic, massage cream, facial pack, scrub gel and massage gel, to name a few.

To celebrate their supportive existence and contribution towards the betterment of society, Times Power Men – West India 2018, held at St Regis, felicitated and honoured such men who have brought about positive changes not just in their personal lives, but also in society. This event was graced by chief guest Amruta Fadnavis.
Bollywood actors Raveena Tandon, Dia Mirza, Poonam Dhillon and many more were seen applauding the efforts of these men who have been doing some incredible work in their respective fields.
Collectively these dignitaries felicitated many powerful men of West India for their organisational and societal contribution towards various fields — education, health, real estate, corporate, fashion, social cause, music, politics, bureaucracy, theatre, film, writing, modelling, public relations, philanthropy, art and more.
The felicitation was based on the contribution of various individuals in different fields/categories and have been selected by an internal panel of the publishing house.
