Within days of mild discomfort, she found herself in a hospital bed, fighting to survive after her body went into septic shock.

Lauren Carson, a financial crime specialist, first noticed the familiar signs of a UTI back in August and started a standard week-long course of antibiotics, as per Daily Mail. Having dealt with recurrent infections for years, she didn’t think much of it when her symptoms lingered. But by the time she returned from a holiday in Majorca, the pain had worsened dramatically.
