$13 bn investment, 15,000 hectares of land: What will go in creating the world’s largest solar farm

It is the newest Swash concept from German shipyard Abeking & Rasmussen and flaunts a striking look. The yacht is designed to hover high above the waves instead of conventionally gliding through them. That’s likely to give you a ‘flying experience’ instead of sailing, even in stormy seas.

The luxury motor yacht by Duffy London is powered by solar energy. Solaris’s power system uses its rest periods to maintain and keep the vessel fuelled and continues to top up while travelling. It can travel silently at great speed, irrespective of wind and weather conditions, while leaving a small carbon footprint.

The design concept of Elyon by Demetrius and Dana Tanase (Expleo Design) is inspired by nature with a futuristic approach. The bow, the blending between decks, wide glass windows and the three structural elements from each side make it look like a superyacht. It has six decks, each with their own features and entertainment options including sunbath, jacuzzi, party place, dining space, gym, wellness area and casino room, and even an indoor pool.

The 36m superyacht catamaran concept by Mauro Giamboi found its design inspiration in Italian sports cars. It stretches over three decks and offers its guests all the spatial advantages associated with a multihull vessel. The catamaran has a top speed of 30 knots and houses a 12 sq mt swimming platform.

It’s a 70m autonomous yacht by French naval architect Mathis Rühl that aims to capture and transform wind energy into propulsive force. The Wind Motion 70T achieves that with high aerodynamic efficiency, light structure, application of various ‘wing’ types and lower required deck space. The boat sails with no noise, no vibrations, nor any disturbing moving devices.

Designer Jonathan Schwinge created this alien-looking yacht that can float above water and make sea travel smooth in all conditions, thanks to its Hydrofoil Small Waterplane Area Ship (HYSWAS) hull. Basically, the hull is fitted with blades that can push water. When the blades are operating at low speeds, the yacht can glide on water. At high speeds, the blades push enough water out of the way so that the yacht can hover.
