Wanted: Chief data officers for India Inc

India is witnessing a 30-35 per cent increase in demand for chief data officers this year compared to the previous year, according to a survey of about 100 companies across sectors by global board and executive search firm BTI Consultants.

"The demand for chief data officers is up substantially and we expect the momentum to continue in the next year," said James Agrawal, managing director, BTI Consultants. Banking, financial services and insurance sector leads the hiring for chief data officers, accounting for a fourth of the total recruitments for this role. Here are the top findings of the survey:
