MBA graduates don’t get a premium over tech grads in campus jobs

The average campus starting salary stays at similar levels whether you are an MBA or an engineering graduate. Companies pay a huge salary premium for talent at top institutes, with the average salary at a tier 3 B-school or a technology institute pegged at one-third of the salary at top institutes, reveals the latest Campus Starting Salary Survey Report by Willis Towers Watson. “The demand for talent in AI, digital, and machine learning is very high while the supply is less which is pushing salary higher,” said Sambhav Rakyan, Head of Talent & Rewards Consulting, India. *For hiring of MBAs, campus tier (63%) and student profile and experience (39%) are the top criteria differentiating compensation

*For MBAs, finance and general management are the highest paid followed by human resources
*For engineering, IT & computer science are the highest paid followed by mechanical engineering Joining bonus is paid only at top tier and tier 1 levels for both the engineers and MBAs
*The average joining bonus for MBAs is around Rs 100,000 while for engineering, it is in the range of Rs 85,000-Rs 100,000
