Companies pay a huge salary premium for talent at top institutes, with the average salary at a tier 3 B-school or a technology institute pegged at one-third of the salary at top institutes.

*For hiring of MBAs, campus tier (63%) and student profile and experience (39%) are the top criteria differentiating compensation
*For MBAs, finance and general management are the highest paid followed by human resources
*For engineering, IT & computer science are the highest paid followed by mechanical engineering Joining bonus is paid only at top tier and tier 1 levels for both the engineers and MBAs
*The average joining bonus for MBAs is around Rs 100,000 while for engineering, it is in the range of Rs 85,000-Rs 100,000
