Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu on Saturday said the Noida International Airport at Jewar will transform the region into a hub for employment, investment and economic growth, with benefits extending across the country.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Naidu said the project marked a moment of national pride. “This is a moment of great happiness not only for Jewar, Uttar Pradesh or Delhi-NCR, but for the entire country,” he said, adding that the national capital had gained “another heartbeat”.

The first phase of the airport has been built at an estimated cost of around Rs 11,200 crore and features a four-kilometre-long runway equipped for international operations.

Naidu said the terminal design reflects the cultural identity of Uttar Pradesh in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of combining development with heritage. He added that the project is being developed as an “aerotropolis”, integrating cargo infrastructure to help locally manufactured goods access domestic and global markets.

The minister said a proposed 40-acre Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility will create employment opportunities and help local youth enter the aviation sector.
