About 75,000, or about 30%, of the new openings will be for people entering the workforce for the first time, the Walmart-owned company said in a statement.
"Focus is on greater speed of delivery nationwide," a person privy to Flipkart's hiring plans told ET. "We have achieved two days delivery for Flipkart-fulfilled products."

As much as 60% of the new jobs will be for last-mile delivery, with women accounting for 20% of Flipkart's supply chain workforce. "With over 900 new festive delivery hubs and nearly 140,000 additional last-mile employment opportunities, Flipkart is expanding its delivery network to meet rising customer demand ahead of Big Billion Days," the company said.
"The nearly 75,000 people entering the workforce for the first time through Flipkart this festive season are one part of that larger ecosystem," said Rajneesh Kumar, chief corporate affairs officer at Flipkart Group. "As digital commerce grows across India, our responsibility is to ensure that this growth creates pathways into employment and entrepreneurship for more people."
