Prior to this, Vinay spent nearly 18 years at Amazon, where he helped build foundational capabilities across Marketplace, Seller Ecosystem, Payments, Search and Browse, and Amazon India.
His experience spans product, engineering, customer experience, and supply chain functions across multiple categories, including grocery.
Earlier this year, the company also strengthened its leadership bench with the appointments of Goda Ramkumar, Vice President, Data Science and AI Solutions; Mohan Palisetti, Vice President, Fintech and Payments Engineering; Nitesh Jain, Distinguished Architect; Smita Ojha, Vice President, Core Platform Engineering; and Amit Sharma, Vice President, Program Management.
Balaji Thiagarajan, Chief Product and Technology Officer, Flipkart, noted that the quality of the customer experience is determined by thousands of decisions made across supply chains, seller ecosystems, trust systems, and fulfilment networks, often before an order is placed, Balaji observed.
"Building and evolving those systems at India's scale requires a strong combination of product thinking, technology depth, and operational rigour with pervasive intelligence embedded in every step. Vinay has led at that intersection across some of the most complex commerce environments, and he will play an important role in helping us strengthen the technology foundations that power Flipkart's next phase of growth," according to Balaji.
Vaidya believes technology has the potential to make commerce simpler, faster and more inclusive.
"From empowering millions of sellers to enabling one of the country's largest supply chains, technology has the potential to make commerce simpler, faster and more inclusive.... I'm excited to join the team and help build the next generation of platforms that power this journey," Vaidya added.
