Amazon India’s Manish Tiwary to get a bigger role, to head seller services

“Gopal Pillai, vice-president, seller services, who relocated to India from Seattle in 2015 will be returning to the US ... Manish Tiwary, vice-president of consumer business, will take over Gopal’s responsibilities,” a company spokesperson said.

Bengaluru: Amazon India’s Manish Tiwary will take on a bigger role leading seller services at the ecommerce firm amid a management restructuring that will see incumbent Gopal Pillai head back to the US after a five-year stint in the country, reports Aditi Shrivastava. Tiwary, who leads Amazon’s consumer-facing businesses, joined Amazon four years ago from HUL.

“Gopal Pillai, vice-president, seller services, who relocated to India from Seattle in 2015 will be returning to the US ... Manish Tiwary, vice-president of consumer business, will take over Gopal’s responsibilities,” a company spokesperson said.

“The change is significant given that seller initiatives are a major portfolio category for Amazon India… and expands Tiwary’s responsibilities significantly,” a person aware of the matter told ET.

Tiwary, a 20-year veteran at Hindustan Unilever, replaced Samir Kumar in 2016, after Kumar decided to move back to Amazon’s Seattle headquarters.
