Housing price index rises 1.1% in Q1 sequentially: RBI data
India’s house price index rose 1.1% quarter-on-quarter in Q1 FY27 (April-June), driven mainly by Chandigarh, Lucknow and Thiruvananthapuram.
The HPI registered an annual growth of 3.6 per cent in Q1:2026-27, same as in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, mainly contributed by cities such as Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow and Thiruvananthapuram, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said.
The RBI compiles the HPI on a quarterly basis using transaction-level data received from the registration authorities.
The cities covered are: Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kochi, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Pune, Ghaziabad, Thane, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Chandigarh and Nagpur.
