A consumer court in Bengaluru has ordered Domino's to pay for inconveniencing a family as it had to eat without adequate lights and air conditioner.
Tap Vijay Kar walked into the Domino's outlet in Meenakshi Mall at 11 pm with his family on May 25, 2015. Kar alleged that the restaurant turned off the lights and that his family had to eat without lights and air conditioner. When he asked the shift -n-charge, he said that the lights get switched off automatically, Bangalore Mirror reported.
Moreover, Kar alleged that he had to walk for 2 km to get cash from an ATM to pay the bill as the card machine wasn't working.
The Domino's counsel refuted the allegations levelled by Kar and said that the shift in-charge had offered to accomodate them on a different table with better lightings. But, Kar, the counsel alleged, wanted to speak with the district manager. The shift in-charge said that the company policy doesn't allow to disturb higher officials at late hours. On the lights getting switched off automatically, the counsel said that as the restaurants are not allowed to function after 11 pm, there is an automatic cut off system in place.
The court after listening to both sides ordered a compensation of Rs 2,000 for the family and Rs 1,000 towards litigation charges.
