Amusement park operator Wonderla Holidays enters food delivery business to beat pandemic blues

BENGALURU: Wonderla Holidays Limited has forayed into food takeaway and delivery business to stay relevant in the new normal as its amusement parks remain shut amid the Covid-19 lockdown. The hospitality brand launched their first multicuisine kitchen outlet, Wonder Kitchen, in Bengaluru and has partnered food aggregators Swiggy and Zomato for at-home consumption.

Arun Chittilappilly, director of Wonderla Holidays, said, “All of us have been locked down and economic activity has come to a near standstill. Our parks and resort chains have been affected across locations due to this turmoil. In these difficult times, we decided to step into the new business venture.”

Wonderla had reported negative financial performance in March 2020, according to stock exchange. Net profit of Wonderla Holidays had declined 77.68% to Rs 1.56 crore in the quarter ended March 2020 as against Rs 6.99 crore during the previous quarter ended March 2019.
