MUMBAI: Managerial jobs require holistic skills and not just quantitative skills says ICICI Bank managing director and CEO Chanda Kochhar clarifying her recent comments on fewer number of women joining MBA courses at a recent CII HR summit.

Her statement has been criticised for suggesting that women are genetically wired to underperform in Maths.

"It is in this context that I said that an MBA selection process should ensure a balance between quantitative, conceptual and social skills. I had also mentioned that 'quantitative skills’ have no relationship with gender and both men and women are equally adept at it.

"I would like to share my personal experience - Maths was my favourite subject and I have always excelled in it. I had also pointed out that girls and boys perform equally well in board examinations in Class X and XII; girls even outshine boys in science subjects" she said.
