Ogilvy has finally given its consent to be part of Goafest 2009. The agency will be participating in this annual event, after it initially declined to be a part of the event, citing the economic slowdown. However even as Ogilvy will be sending its work, there will be no delegates from the agency this year. Piyush Pandey, executive chairman, Ogilvy India will be the sole representative representing the agency at the event this year.

Confirming the development, Pandey told Brand Equity that given the long association with Abbys, the decision was taken to participate in the event albeit with some austerity measures. "We won't be sending any delegates considering the tough economic conditions which make its necessary to control costs," says Pandey. He added that given a choice given to employees to participate in the event or send their work, Pandey says they chose the latter. Ogilvy was one of the agencies along with McCann and Lowe who refused to participate initially.
