Conceived in India, built in UK: Offgrid targets long-duration battery market beyond lithium

Offgrid Energy Labs has launched its first pilot battery manufacturing facility in the UK, commercialising zinc-bromine technology developed through years of R&D in India. The company is targeting long-duration energy storage for AI data centres, renewable energy and industrial applications rather than competing with lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles. As countries seek to diversify battery supply chains beyond China, Offgrid is betting its ZincGel platform can carve out a niche in the emerging market for stationary energy storage.
