A majority of urban moms are not in a happy place

On the eve of Mother’s Day, ET looks at the various aspects of the life of the urban Indian mother:

Lack of appreciation and unrealistic expectations of themselves are the key reasons why about 70% of mothers in urban India are unhappy, shows a survey by Momspresso, a user-generated content platform for women. The survey covered over 1,200 mothers — working and non-working — across Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata for the ‘Mom’s Happiness Index’.

The survey also pointed to working mothers’ happiness being related to the support they receive from their employers. “A mother’s happiness is related directly to the happiness of her family, and to her productivity at work.

There needs to be more appreciation of mothers at both the home and workplace,” said Vishal Gupta, CEO of Momspresso. On the eve of Mother’s Day, ET looks at the various aspects of the life of the urban Indian mother:
