The appointment, effective immediately, was announced at BARC India's board meeting on August 1. He succeeds Shashi Sinha, Executive Chairman of IPG Mediabrands India, who held the position for over three years.
Banerjee is a seasoned leader with more than two decades of experience in the media and entertainment industry. He also serves as Vice President of the Indian Broadcasting & Digital Foundation (IBDF), and sits on the boards of MSM-Worldwide Factual Media and Bangla Entertainment.
Commenting on his appointment, Banerjee said, “BARC India continues to empower stakeholders across the ecosystem with data-driven decision-making, and it is a privilege to take on the role of Chairman at the world’s largest television audience measurement company.
