On Monday, shares of Vedanta closed at Rs 431.05 rupees on the BSE, up 2.5% from the previous close.
While most organisations award stock options to only senior and management level employees, earlier this year, the Mahindra group awarded stock options worth Rs 400-500 crore to a large section of its employees, including workers on the shop floor.
“The key idea behind this is to build ownership within the employee base, which is why you don't see Vedanta covering say (only) handful few senior executives like many other organizations, but going very deep in the organization in terms of its coverage,” Manmeet Singh, the deputy chief human resources officer for the company told ET.
