NTPC keen to modernise HR policies

With nearly 7,000 of its employees below the 40-year-old category, state-run maharatna NTPC is keen to modernise its people policies. On the cards are a slew of progressive measures that could make the power generation behemoth comparable with any well-run company in India.

A work-from-home option for middle- and senior-level executives, paperless offices, revamped performance management system and simulated training programmes for employees make up for a large portion of the modernisation drive.

“The nature of our workforce is changing with the influx of Gen-Z in both the executive and non-executive grades who are increasingly mobile and tech-savvy. It is thus crucial that we sustain the engagement levels with our workforce and inspire our employees to surmount the hardships of working miles away from cities in difficult terrain and work as a team,” said director - human resources, Saptarshi Roy.


NTPC is encouraging a work environment in which the use of paper is eliminated or reduced by converting documents into digital form.
