Kwality Wall's demerger to be completed by end of FY26, says HUL

FMCG major Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) is in process to demerge its popular ice-cream business - Kwality Wall's (India) Limited (KWIL). The demerger scheme is said to be completed by end of current financial year 2025-26 (FY2026).

"The demerger process of Kwality Wall's is still under the process and that the demerger will be completed by end of current financial year 2025-26 (FY2026)," the company said.

Announced in January 2025, the ice-cream business will become a separate listed entity on the stock exchange post demerger. It received regulatory approvals from BSE and NSE in May.


As per the company's demerger scheme, eligible shareholders will receive one equity share of Kwality Wall's for every one equity share held in HUL as on the record date, which will be announced later.

The company aims to unlock additional value by separating the high-growth segment from its core FMCG operations through this demerger.

The international Unilever Group carries out its Indian ice cream business through its subsidiary, HUL.

Unilever is in the process to demerge its ice cream business, called The Magnum Ice Cream Company, that will become a separate entity by mid-November.

Following the demerger, The Magnum Ice Cream Company will acquire 61.9% of Kwality Wall’s (India) Limited from the Unilever Group.

Popular ice cream brands like Cornetto, Magnum, Feast and Creamy Delight are owned and operated by Kwality Wall's.
