ITC claims Savlon internationally validated to fight Covid-19

ITC Ltd on Saturday said its Savlon range of hand sanitiser, antiseptic disinfectant liquid, soap and handwash have been validated by an international laboratory to be over 99% effective against COVID-19 type Coronavirus. It claimed Savlon is the first Indian brand to get such a validation.

The company said the international laboratory testing the efficacy of the products is accredited by United Kingdom Accreditation Service which certifies that the laboratory uses test methods based on stringent international standards.

Sameer Satpathy, chief executive (personal care products business) at ITC Ltd said, Savlon is the first Indian brand to get this validation. "The scientific evidencing of efficacy against the COVID-19 type Coronavirus is a testimony to the relentless efforts of our Indian research and development capabilities," he said.


During the Covid-19 pandemic, ITC has already launched a new hand sanitiser, disinfectant spray and a sanitiser sachet at half a rupee under the Savlon brand.
