V-Guard MD Mithun K Chittilappilly takes over as chairperson

Bengaluru: Kerala-based consumer electronics maker V-Guard Industries has appointed managing director Mithun K Chittilappilly as chairperson, effective Sunday. He continues as managing director.

Mithun, who has been the company’s managing director since 2012, will continue in the role while taking on the additional responsibility of chairperson. He succeeds Radha Unni, whose second and final term as chairperson and independent director has ended.

Mithun joined V-Guard in 2006 as executive director and became managing director in 2012. During his tenure, he has overseen the company’s expansion beyond South India, portfolio diversification and growth in manufacturing.


“Over the past two decades, I have had the privilege to witness and contribute along with my team to V-Guard’s transformation from a regional brand into a strong, growing pan-Indian organisation,” Mithun said in a statement.

V-Guard’s workforce has grown from 573 employees in 2006 to 11,357 as of August 2026. The company now has 15 manufacturing facilities across seven states and operates across more than 20 product categories.

Mithun’s tenure has also seen changes across the company’s brand, customer service, supply chain, sales and marketing, human resources and finance functions. These initiatives have helped V-Guard move from a people-dependent organisation to a more process-oriented company, it said.

V-Guard has also received Superbrand status in the voltage stabiliser category for five consecutive years. The company said it continues to maintain a low attrition rate, reflecting employee engagement and workplace culture.
