RBI allows Ujjivan Small Finance Bank to rope in former SBI veteran as MD & CEO

The Reserve Bank of India has approved the appointment of Sanjeev Nautiyal as the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer at Ujjivan Small Finance Bank for three years, effective from July 1, 2024.

Sanjeev Nautiyal will join Ujjivan Small Finance Bank well before officially assuming the role of MD & CEO. In the interim, he will hold the position of President, the bank said in an exchange filing.

"The appointment of Mr. Nautiyal as the MD & CEO will be subject to the approval of shareholders at the ensuing Annual General Meeting of the bank," Ujjivan Small Finance Bank said.


Sanjeev Nautiyal has over three decades of experience in banking, specialising in retail, SME, financial inclusion, operations, HR, international banking, and treasury. He has held positions such as Deputy Managing Director, Financial Inclusion & Micro Markets at State Bank of India and was also the MD & CEO at SBI Life Insurance.

Currently, he serves as an Independent Director of Life Insurance Corporation and provides advisory services to various organizations. Mr. Nautiyal holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and a Master’s degree in Business Administration. He is also a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers.
