Marico boss reveals what kept him going when every top B-school turned him down

For all those who are struggling right now with their careers, dreams or goals, Harsh Mariwala, who is the founder and chairman of Marico, has a message for you: "Life always has a plan". The business tycoon on Wednesday took to Twitter to share his story, inspiring many to keep going on.

Mariwala recalled his college days and revealed that he had applied to several top business schools after his graduation but was rejected by them all. "Disappointed, but not defeated, I began reading," he further said. Not letting this demotivate him, the businessman then started interacting with other people who knew better than him and kept working on himself.

Sharing this inspiring story with his over 897K followers on Twitter, the 70-year-old wrote, "Don't let minor hurdles dampen your dreams."




Mariwala began his career in 1971 with Bombay Oil Industries, which was controlled by his family. Over the years, he took the company to new heights as it now has operations in around 25 countries across the globe. The Indian entrepreneur later formed Kaya Limited, a chain of skin care clinics located across India and the Middle East, among several other companies. Mariwala's colourful success sheet tells several such tales of his hard work, making the entrepreneur a massive inspiration for young aspiring India.

So when Mariwala's tweet came early Wednesday morning, Twitterati flooded the post's thread, applauding the businessman.

A Twitter user thanked him for being an inspiration for students who come from small towns. While another user lauded Mariwala and said that the timing of the motivational tweet was perfect.








Hours later, Mariwala, in another tweet, also shared the perfect wisdom for Wednesday. "Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life," he wrote.
