The Sanjay Dutt biopic has raked in Rs 202.51 crore in the 7 days since its release.

NEW DELHI: Ranbir Kapoor's latest release 'Sanju' became his first film to enter the coveted Rs 200-crore club.

Film critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the first week collection of the film. The Sanjay Dutt biopic raked in Rs 202.51 crore in the 7 days since its release.



The film has already crossed the lifetime business of Hirani's earlier film '3 Idiots' that starred Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Boman Irani and R Madhavan.



Earlier on Thursday, Adarsh had tweeted in anticipation of the film crossing a whopping Rs. 200 crore.

'Sanju' - which is a biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt and his run-in with the law - hit the big screens on June 29. It clocked Rs 120.06 crore on the opening weekend.


Kapoor's only other film to come close to the Rs 200-crore mark was the 2013 blockbuster 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' co-starring Deepika Padukone. The Ayan Mukerji-directorial raked in Rs 188.57 crores.

Kapoor's previous films which have crossed the Rs 100 crore-mark include Anurag Basu's 'Barfi' in 2012 that earned Rs 112.15 crores, , and more-recently Karan Johar's 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' with Rs 112.48 crores in 2016.

Written and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, 'Sanju' has Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt. It also stars Manisha Koirala as Nargis, Paresh Rawal as actor-Parliamentarian Sunil Dutt, Dia Mirza, Sonam Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Jim Sarbh and Anushka Sharma in pivotal roles.
