Old-school cool! Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi still votes for cable TV

For this top boss, cable TV is a fond childhood memory.

The multitude of content available on internet-enabled devices may have weaned many of us off of cable television, but not Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi. For him, cable TV is a fond childhood memory. Khosrowshahi’s family emigrated from Iran to the US when he was just nine years old after much hardship.

And it was only after moving there that he was introduced to the glossy world of television. “For kids it’s lot easier; we didn’t notice much. The quality of television then was much better. We had at that time 30 cable channels and it was awesome for us!” he said, speaking at the ET Global Business Summit in New Delhi recently.

“That was the only thing I cared about when we came to the States,” he said. Funnily enough, sitting just a few steps away from Khosrowshahi was Netflix’s Reed Hastings. A classic meeting of the old and new.
