NDA performance in Assam polls reflection of good governance, PM's focus on development: Himanta Biswa Sarma
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attributed the NDA's significant assembly poll victory to the government's "good work" and Prime Minister Modi's development focus. He highlighted the BJP's unprecedented majority and criticized the Congres...

Addressing a press conference at the BJP state headquarters here, Sarma said, "It is an unprecedented victory for a ruling alliance. It is for the first time that the BJP has secured a majority in the state."
The BJP won 62 seats and was ahead in 20 constituencies, while its ally Bodoland People's Front (BPF) bagged seven seats and was leading in three, and the other alliance partner Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) secured four constituencies and was leading in six, according to the Election Commission.
On the Congress' performance, which is not likely to cross the 20-seat tally, Sarma said, "People have punished them for politicising singer Zubeen Garg's death."
He claimed that barring one or two, there will be no Hindu MLAs in the Opposition, and urged "good" Hindu Congress leaders to join the BJP to secure the state's future and fight the "aggression" of "Bangladeshi Miyas".
Sarma also asserted that India will remain a Hindu nation till the Sun and the Moon exists.
"Hat-trick with a century!" the CM said in a post on X, as the ruling alliance headed for a three-digit figure.
