BJP West Bengal election manifesto: Saffron party promises to ‘probe and jail’ corrupt leaders of TMC

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday unveiled its West Bengal poll manifesto with a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) led by Mamata Banerjee, vowing to probe all alleged corruption during its 15-year rule and send those found guilty behind bars.

Presenting the BJP’s Sankalp Patra, Union Home Minister Amit Shah set the tone for the campaign pitch. A central promise highlighted during the event was a sweeping investigation into alleged wrongdoing over the past 15 years if the BJP comes to power in the state. As articulated in the manifesto pitch, “if BJP comes to power they will probe all corruptions by TMC in 15 years and then imprison whoever is at fault.”

Shah said the document reflects what the party describes as a long period of governance failure, stating that “in Mamata Didi’s three tenures, fear, discrimination and corruption have been deeply entrenched.” He also claimed that Bengal now stands at a turning point, with voters seeking change after years of disappointment.

The BJP leader further described the manifesto as a promise of employment and development, saying it is a commitment to building “Sonar Bangla.” He added that it lays out a blueprint for a “Viksit Bengal,” positioning it as a direct contrast to the current administration.
