Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma accuses Congress of Pakistan-linked smear campaign
Talking to media persons on Monday Sarma said that these charges have been used by the Congress party to influence the poll outcome. “This is a punishable offence under the law.”
Congress leader Pawan Khera had alleged Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, wife of chief minister of Assam holds multiple passports, has properties in USA, Dubai and parked money shell companies.

Sarma alleged that the documents which Congress used to make the allegations against his wife were taken from a social media group "Pakistanis in Ajman", and her photo was morphed on a lost passport of a person from that country. "I am concerned that they took the help of Pakistan. This is not a simple fraud case but a crime against the nation. Pakistan was attempting to influence the Assam elections".
The Chief Minister also said it is unfortunate that former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi's son Gaurav Gogoi can make such false allegations against his wife.
Sarma alleged. “Congress once tried this playbook in the St. Kitts case; those days are over. Fabrication will be met with the full force of law—my legal team is already at work.”
Congress leader Pawan Khera alleged on Sunday that the Assam chief minister's wife has three passports of the UAE, Egypt and Antigua-Barbuda.

Congress urged Election commission to scrap Sarma nomination over wife’s undeclared assets in foreign countries. Congress party claimed these assets were not mentioned in the election affidavit.
Gaurav said, “I can say under an oath on the Bhagavad Gita that I don't have any property in London as alleged by Sarma. Can Sarma do that? I challenge him to come to a common place and to do the same under an oath on the Bhagavad Gita.”
He added, "The question is, does your wife possess a Golden Visa for Dubai? Do you or any family member own property there? Is the Golden visa on an Indian passport? Does any family member of Himanta Biswa Sarma operate a business in a foreign country?”
Gaurav asked Sarma to welcome the investigation if he had nothing to hide. “If congress comes to power in Assam, it will pursue investigations into Sarma's alleged undisclosed business operations. "
