TMC claims mass voter additions, flags 'demographic change' in Bengal
Kolkata: Trinamool national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee said on Monday that West Bengal’s demography was being changed by the ECI under directions from the BJP in Delhi. This was being done by the BJP submitting a large number of Form 6 illegally on one day. Abhishek claimed that over 30,000 Forms 6s were submitted on a single day at the CEO office.

The same thing happened in Maharashtra. In 4 months, 40 lakh voters were added. In Delhi, 5 lakh new voters were added, he alleged.

In a two-way strategy by BJP central leadership, Banerjee claimed "Votechori" was being done by adding voters illegally, who are residents from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, while on the other hand, voters have been deleted in large numbers.

“As per the ECI, only 50 Form 6s can be submitted by one person. Compared to this, 600-700 Form 6s were submitted in the North Kolkata assembly constituency. A total of 30,000 Form 6s have been submitted in a day. Altogether 14 lakh names were deleted in the supplementary list during polls,” he said.

"BJP wants a demographic change in Bengal. “This parivartan or change is sought by the BJP. They don't want positive change in Bengal. BJP wants to make Bengal into a Bihar and Uttar Pradesh,” he alleged, countering Union Home Minister Amit Shah's allegations that Mamata Banerjee has changed the demography of West Bengal.

“We have asked the CEO to release the CCTV footage of so many Form-6s submitted in one day,” said Abhisek. However, the CEO said he has no CCTV in his office.
