Filmmaker Aditya Dhar is gearing up for the release of his much-awaited film Dhurandhar The Revenge. Starring Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi, the film is set to hit theatres on March 19. The first instalment Dhurandhar, turned out to be a massive box office success, reportedly earning over Rs 1300 crore worldwide. With expectations riding high, fans are now eagerly awaiting the Dhurandhar 2. Recently, Akshay Kumar spoke about the film, praising its impact while also addressing whether he regrets not being a part of it.

Akshay Kumar praises Dhurandhar

During a recent media interaction, Akshay Kumar described Dhurandhar as a strong action film that resonated with audiences. He pointed out that despite its violent tone, viewers embraced it wholeheartedly. The actor also noted how Ranveer Singh’s intense “angry young man” avatar struck a chord with fans, marking a return of a larger-than-life hero persona that had been missing from Hindi cinema for some time.



He also said at India Today conclave, "Five to six years ago, I did some social films; they would work a lot. Now it’s time for horror comedy, Stree worked so well, so everything keeps on changing, and we don’t know what they (the audience) are going to like next."

Does Akshay Kumar regrets losing the role to Ranveer in Dhurandhar?

When asked if he regretted not being cast in Dhurandhar, Akshay Kumar responded candidly. He said he believes Aditya Dhar did not see him fitting into the world of the film or the “Layari gang,” which is why he was not considered for the role. The actor added that casting decisions ultimately depend on the filmmaker’s vision.

"He didn't think it, so I didn't get it," said Akshay.

Talking about losing role to Ranveer Singh, he said, " I meet Ranveer, and he appreciates my work. There are some roles he wanted to play that I got, and vice versa. We are 15-20 actors in Hindi cinema, and 180 films are made in India. Everyone has a role. There is regret only to the point that we also wish to play a role like that, but there is no jealousy."

On the work front, Akshay Kumar has a busy slate ahead. The actor recently unveiled the trailer of his upcoming film Bhoot Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan, which is slated for release on April 10, 2026. He also has several major projects lined up, including Hera Pheri 3, Welcome To The Jungle, and Golmaal 5. Stay tuned!
