Allu Arjun has announced his first collaboration with director Lokesh Kanagaraj, titled AA23. Revealed through a symbolic animated teaser, the film promises a darker, ambitious tone and will begin shooting in 2026, with music by Anirudh Ravichander.
Fresh off the record-breaking run of Pushpa 2: The Rule, Allu Arjun is wasting little time in charting his next move. On the occasion of Bhogi, the actor unveiled his first collaboration with Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj, a project tentatively titled AA23, signalling a shift from rustic rebellion to a grittier, more symbolic cinematic world.

The announcement instantly set social media buzzing, not just for the star pairing, but for the tone it promised: intense, untamed and unapologetically ambitious.

A teaser that speaks in symbols, not dialogue

Instead of a conventional title card reveal, the makers released an animated announcement video that plays out like a visual poem.

The clip opens at dawn over vast grasslands alive with wildlife, before narrowing in on a lone figure resembling Allu Arjun walking past a fire deep in the forest. Another frame shows him struggling to rein in a restless horse on a hilltop, a metaphor many fans read as control over chaos.

The sequence builds to its most striking image: a pack of wolves charging toward a lion, only to be halted by a thunderous roar. The video ends with the words “A Lokesh Kanagaraj film” and the tagline Strive for greatness, confirming that filming will begin in 2026.

Music for the teaser and the full film will be composed by Anirudh Ravichander, continuing his long creative association with the director.

“Locked in mentally,” says Allu Arjun

Sharing the video on X, Allu Arjun wrote: “I SAY 23. Goin on a spree. Low-Key G. Locked in mentally. That’s a guarantee! Can’t wait for this one.”

The project will be produced by Mythri Movie Makers and marks the actor’s 23rd film, making the working title AA23 both a numerical milestone and a branding statement.
Kanagaraj, best known for building the interconnected Lokesh Cinematic Universe through films like Kaithi, Vikram and Leo, brings with him a reputation for stylised violence, layered characters and morally complex storytelling.

Industry observers see AA23 as a significant crossover moment, blending Allu Arjun’s mass appeal with Lokesh’s darker, urban narrative style.

A packed slate for the Icon Star

Alongside AA23, Allu Arjun is also preparing for another high-profile project with director Atlee, co-starring Deepika Padukone, underscoring how firmly he is positioning himself in pan-Indian cinema after the Pushpa phenomenon.
