Farooq Abdullah demands statehood, slams BJP on Article 370 anniversary
Former J&K chief minister Farooq Abdullah, who heads the ruling National Conference, on Monday said J&K is still being ruled by a "viceroy" from New Delhi despite an elected government in the Union Territory.

Abdullah questioned the BJP's claims of achievements in J&K following the abrogation of Article 370 and 35 (A) on August 5, 2019, when the state was divided into the two Union Territories. His comments came a day before the sixth anniversary of the abrogation.

"His viceroy sitting here in Raj Bhawan holds the command. There is a government here but viceroy is the main man. Time has come when this has to change," Abdullah said, referring to the LG.
