8th Pay Commission news: 8th CPC to hold meetings in Chandigarh in September; check dates

The 8th Pay Commission has announced the schedule for another round of consultations with employee and pensioner organisations in Chandigarh in September as part of its nationwide stakeholder outreach. The 8th Pay Commission has already released schedules for similar meetings in New Delhi, Chennai and Puducherry.

Dates for 8th Pay Commission’s Chandigarh discussions

The 8th Pay Commission said that it would visit Chandigarh on September 16 to 18 for discussions with stakeholders.
The 8th Pay Commission (8th CPC) in a statement dated July 28, 2026, said: “Interested stakeholders, including central government/UT organisations and institutions, as well as associations/unions/individuals/pensioners of the central government from the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and the Union Territory of Chandigarh, desirous of interacting with the commission in Chandigarh, may kindly submit their request for an appointment.”

Last date to apply for 8th Pay Commission’s Chandigarh meetings

The pay commission said that the request for a Chandigarh meeting can be submitted on or before August 25, 2026, along with the unique memo ID generated after the submission of the memorandum.
“The venue and detailed schedule of interactions will be intimated subsequently,” the 8th Pay Commission said.

8th Pay Commission to hold meetings in other states/UTs too

The 8th CPC also said that it would hold separate meetings in cities in other states/union territories in due course.

Delhi meetings in August

In a statement issued on July 23, 2026, the 8th Pay Commission also said that it would hold interactions in New Delhi in August.

According to a notice by the 8th CPC, interactions would be held with associations, federations and unions of central government and UT employees located or registered in New Delhi from August 7-10, 2026.

In a notice dated July , the 8th Pay Commission said that it would hold meetings in Chennai on September 7 and 8.

The 8th Pay Commission said in a notice dated July 24 that it would be visiting Puducherry on September 9, 2026.

8th Pay Commission to hold meetings in other states/UTs too

The 8th CPC also said that it would hold separate meetings in cities in other states/union territories in due course.
“Accordingly, stakeholders belonging to states/union territories other than Tamil Nadu are requested not to seek appointments during this visit of the Commission,” says the 8th Pay Commission in its Puducherry notice.

What does the 8th Pay Commission discuss in meetings with stakeholders?

In these meetings, the pay commission takes employee and pensioner bodies and other stakeholders’ suggestions on pay, pension, fitment factor, promotions, work conditions and many other employee issues.

The 8th Pay Commission is in the process to submit its report of recommendations. In November 2025, the government gave it an 18-month deadline to submit its report. The pay commission has already had discussions with stakeholders in cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Leh, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata.
