8th Pay Commission Mumbai meeting schedule and 4 other key developments

The 8th Pay Commission announced today (Tuesday, September 22, 2026) that it would hold meetings with stakeholders in Mumbai in October. The 8th Pay Commission is currently gathering views from stakeholders as part of the process of reviewing the pay, allowances and other service-related matters of central government employees and pensioners.

Here are the five key developments related to the 8th Pay Commission that employees and pensioners should know.

In a statement dated September 21, 2026, the 8th Pay Commission said that it would visit Mumbai on October 22-23, 2026, for discussions with stakeholders. The 8th CPC in its statement said that interested stakeholders, including organisations/ institutions as well as associations/unions of central government, desirous of interacting with the pay commission at Mumbai, might submit their request for an appointment through the following link: https://nicforms.nic.in/enRhYmxlNmFhYTQwYzY5YTg5NTIwMjYwOTE2M TQz

The request may be submitted on or before October 10, 2026, along with a ‘Unique memo ID’, the 8th Pay Commission said in its statement.

The 8th Pay Commission held discussions with stakeholders in Jaipur, Rajasthan, on August 31, 2026 (Monday) and September 1, 2026 (Tuesday).

After completing its meetings in Jaipur, the 8th Pay Commission moved to Chennai, where it also held pay, pension and work-related discussions with different central government employee and pensioners bodies. The discussions were scheduled for September 7 and 8.

Once discussions in Chennai were over, the 8th Pay Commission continued meeting with stakeholders in Southern India as it held discussions with stakeholders in Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, on September 9, 2026.

Once its discussions in Chennai and Puducherry were over, the 8th Pay Commission’s next stop was Chandigarh. Pay commission officials were in Chandigarh for three days when they heard views of employee and pensioner bodies and other stakeholders from September 16-18.

The 8th Pay Commission has also announced its first meeting schedule for October 2026. The pay commission said that it would visit the capital city of Karnataka on October 7 and 8.
