Allan Nascimento, a Brazilian mixed martial artist who competed in the UFC's flyweight division, has died at the age of 34, the UFC announced on Monday (August 3). According to the promotion, Nascimento was found unresponsive after suffering an apparent heart attack in his sleep. Despite emergency responders' efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Nascimento's official cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

Known by the nickname 'Puro Osso' ('Skinny'), Nascimento was admired for his technical grappling and submission skills. During his MMA career, he faced several of the flyweight division's top contenders and earned respect for his determination inside the Octagon. His most recent bout came at UFC Fight Night: Kape vs Horiguchi in June, where he lost a closely contested split decision to Mitch Raposo. News of his sudden passing has prompted an outpouring of tributes from across the mixed martial arts community.

"Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Allan's family, friends, teammates and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time," the UFC posted on X.

According to ESPN, Nascimento compiled a 22-7 professional record and went 4-2 in six UFC appearances after signing with the promotion in 2021. Notably, both of his defeats came via narrow split decisions.

Nascimento trained at the renowned Chute Boxe academy in Sao Paulo, where he worked alongside former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira. Following the UFC's announcement of Nascimento's death, Oliveira paid tribute to his longtime teammate in a heartfelt Instagram post.
