As the investigation into the Nancy Guthrie case continues in its sixth month since she disappeared from her home in Tucson, Arizona, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, who is leading the probe alongside the FBI, has shared a “positive” update on the high‑profile investigation. His remarks came a day after NBC journalist Savannah Guthrie posted a fresh video on Instagram, speaking about her mother’s abduction and pleading with the kidnappers to provide information.

According to Chris Nanos, the search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84‑year‑old mother of Savannah Guthrie, is far from over. Speaking on the Today show on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, Nanos said, “We have so much DNA to sort through.” He added, “We have so much in terms of video evidence to look at.” Point‑blank, Nanos confirmed, “I’m still positive that we’re going to resolve this case.”

Savannah’s fresh Plea to Kidnappers

Nanos’ remarks came a day after Savannah Guthrie spoke out about her mother’s disappearance in an emotional video shared on Instagram. “I’m coming on today with a very specific message,” she said. “It has been months since our mom was taken from us. Our family is in agony. We are in a nightmare that will not end. Nothing about our situation has changed. We have done our part, but we will never stop looking for her.”

Savannah further stated that she and her siblings still “feel that hole in our hearts” without the closure of knowing what happened to their mother. Apparently addressing the kidnappers in the video, she said, “The world can be a cruel and unforgiving place, and I know that you have tried to do things the right way. So I’m asking you, begging you, to do the right thing now. Make the right choice. Help us find her. Tell us where to look for her.”

She said to her mother’s captor that “it is never too late to do the right thing” and begged, “Help us bring the situation to an end for all of us, no matter where we’ve been and what we’ve done. I believe there’s a way home. Please make the right choice.”

"I truly believe it is never too late to do the right thing. Help us bring this situation to an end. For all of us, no matter where we've been and what we've done, I believe there is always a way home."

When did Nancy Guthrie disappear

Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on February 1, 2026, and has not been seen since. Investigators in Arizona believe she was taken from her home against her will, and despite ongoing efforts, no arrests have been made in the case. In February, the FBI released images showing a suspect tampering with the camera at Nancy’s front door before her disappearance, but authorities have yet to identify the individual.

The FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie or the arrest and conviction of those involved in her disappearance. In addition, the Guthrie family has announced their own reward of $1 million.
