New York Shocking Crime: Woman stabs man in head after traffic dispute in Queens, cops launch manhunt; here’s what we know about the victim and the suspect

The New York Police Department (NYPD) has launched a search for a woman accused of an unprovoked stabbing in Bayside, Queens. According to police, the incident occurred on Thursday morning (September 24, 2026) when the woman approached a 52-year-old man who was working on his porch and allegedly stabbed him in the head, according to police, as reported by CBS News.

The victim reportedly did not know the suspect. Reacting to the incident, his wife, who spoke to CBS News on condition of anonymity, said, "I see he's full of blood around his head, shirt, and everywhere." She stated that her husband told her he had been working in the front yard when he heard a car horn honking.

Neighbors share details about the suspect

Speaking to CBS News New York, neighbors claimed that the car horns started about a block away along 53rd Avenue, where the suspect allegedly parked her car and obstructed traffic, prompting other drivers to start honking. According to witnesses, the woman was apparently frustrated, and she headed back into her car driving just a couple of feet and then stopping outside the victim's home and again getting out of the car.

Recalling the stabbing incident, the victim's wife said, "She then asked my husband, 'What are you looking at?' And then my husband just [did] not respond to her." "And then she just, for no reason, stabbed my husband," she added. According to police, the suspect fled the scene in a red sedan.

Victim’s wife shares update on him

While giving information about his wounded husband, the woman said that he suffered a deep laceration that required three stitches, but he's expected to be OK. "I'm really worried about it. I feel unsafe," the victim's wife said, as quoted by CBS News. Currently they are demanding that the suspect should be off the street and the victim's wife doesn't "want this to happen to anybody."

In another incident, the NYPD was searching for a woman who, according to them, stabbed a rideshare driver in the Bronx after trying to pay him with counterfeit cash, CBS News reported. The incident occurred on August 15, 2026, the news outlet reported, citing the police department. The suspect was identified as Makenda Hazel, 31, who was riding in the car with the 48-year-old driver going eastbound on East 215th Street.
