The approval by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is being seen as a major boost to Chhattisgarh's efforts to emerge as a preferred destination for high-tech manufacturing, a state government official said.

The approval by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is being seen as a major boost to Chhattisgarh's efforts to emerge as a preferred destination for high-tech manufacturing, a state government official said.
MeitY has approved central financial assistance of Rs 210.56 crore for the project, whose estimated cost stood at Rs 432.08 crore, the official said.
The cluster will be developed by the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC) over an area spread across nearly 306 acres, he informed.
The sprawling facility will offer ready-made factory spaces, reliable power and water supply, warehouses and other modern industrial infrastructure, enabling companies to commence operations with minimal lead time, the official said.
Four anchor companies from semiconductor, electric vehicle and smart electronics sectors have already expressed interest in setting up operations in the cluster. Their participation reflects growing investor confidence in Chhattisgarh as a competitive destination for technology-driven industries, he noted.
Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for approving the project.
Sai emphasised the decision reflected increasing investor confidence in Chhattisgarh and reaffirmed his government's commitment to equipping local youth with industry-oriented skills so that they benefit from employment opportunities generated by the mega project.
The EMC 2.0 project is expected to strengthen national initiatives such as Make in India, Digital India and Atmanirbhar Bharat by expanding electronics manufacturing capacity, component production and value addition, the official said.
The project is expected to mark an important milestone in Chhattisgarh's emergence as a promising electronics manufacturing destination and drive the state's next phase of industrial growth, he added.
