This comes weeks after Amazon veteran Amit Nanda joined BigBasket as the new chief executive after founder Hari Menon stepped down. Nanda has been tasked with making the business profitable amid mounting pressure on margins in the quick commerce sector.
Supermarket Grocery Supplies, the business-to-business (B2B) division of BigBasket, reported a marginal 3.2% increase in revenue to Rs 2,298 crore for FY26. Its losses remained flat at Rs 102 crore.
BigBasket competes with the likes of Blinkit, Instamart and Zepto and newer operators Amazon Now and Flipkart Minutes, who are aggressively expanding their dark store network.
The Tata group company has over 700 dark stores. Blinkit had 2,443 dark stores as of June this year, while Zepto’s store count was at 1,139 by end of FY26. Flipkart Minutes recently crossed the 1,000 mark and Amazon now has over 500 stores.
