Launched December 2024, satellites A and B demonstrated autonomous docking before re-entering Earth’s atmosphere October 2026.
New Delhi: The two satellites that were part of the Space Docking Experiment (SpaDex) have re-entered Earth's atmosphere, marking the end of the mission after nearly 22 months, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said on Friday.

Launched on December 30, 2024, the SpaDex mission demonstrated critical autonomous rendezvous and low-impact docking technologies using two satellites: SpaDex-A and SpaDex-B.

According to ISRO, SpaDex-A re-entered the atmosphere over the South Pacific Ocean on October 12 at 10.18 pm, while SpaDex-B re-entered over the North Atlantic Ocean on October 13 at 5:06 am.

The agency said both spacecraft successfully accomplished all core mission objectives, including vertical and radial docking, composite control, power transfer, undocking, and payload operations.

"In the post-operational phase, the fuel was exhausted in both the satellites; their orbits decayed progressively, leading to their eventual atmospheric re-entry on October 12, 2026," ISRO said.
