Jharkhand students protest: Police lathi-charge, Devendra Mahto, says ‘Ready to Die’ for students
Jharkhand student leader Devendra Nath Mahato says he is “ready to die” while demanding action on students’ concerns and a CBI inquiry. His remarks came during the protest march towards the Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha in Ranchi.Ranchi City SP Paras Rana said, “The JPSC-JSSC Reform Forum had announced a program to lay siege to the Legislative Assembly. Initially, it was stated that the protest would be peaceful. The police had made adequate preparations on their end, although they faced criticism regarding the nature of the barricading. However, regarding the behavior of the crowd, the organizers repeatedly urged the protesters to remain peaceful. Despite this, there was repeated stone-pelting; three to four of our police personnel were injured in the process. Two individuals required stitches for head injuries, and at one point, when the barricades were breached, three of our personnel were trampled.
