Asian Games 2026 Day 3 schedule: India eyes cricket gold, badminton semis and shooting medals on Sept 22

Indian athletes will feature across multiple disciplines at the Asian Games 2026 on September 22, with a potential second consecutive women's cricket gold, crucial badminton quarter-finals and medal events in shooting among the highlights of the day.

The Indian women's cricket team will take on Sri Lanka in the final at Korogi Athletic Park, aiming to defend the title it won at the previous edition of the Games. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM IST.

Badminton will also draw attention as both Indian teams face hosts Japan in the quarter-finals at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium.


The women's team, led by PV Sindhu and featuring players such as Unnati Hooda, Devika Sihag, Tanvi Sharma, Ishar Baruah, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, will begin its tie at 6:00 AM IST.

Later in the day, the men's team — comprising Lakshya Sen, Ayush Shetty, HS Prannoy, Kidambi Srikanth, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty — will also face Japan, with the contest set to start at 11:30 AM IST.

Shooting will be another key medal event for India, with Parth Rakesh Mane and Elavenil Valarivan competing in the 10m air rifle mixed team qualification and final rounds.

Indian shooters will also participate in the men's and women's skeet qualification events. Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Bhavtegh Singh Gill and Mairaj Ahmad Khan will compete in the men's section, while Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Raiza Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan will feature in the women's event.

In hockey, India will face Sri Lanka in a Pool A match at 3:30 PM IST after opening their campaign with a dominant 13-1 win over Indonesia.

Boxers Sakshi Choudhary (women's 51kg) and Jadumani Singh (men's 55kg) will begin their campaigns in the round of 32, while Indian athletes will also compete in fencing, wushu, swimming, equestrian, karate, soft tennis, table tennis and esports through the day.
