Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill centuries give India 8-wicket win over West Indies in 1st ODI

Thiruvananthapuram: Virat Kohli scored his 55th ODI century and Shubman Gill made 110 as India crushed the West Indies by eight wickets in the first match to take a 1-0 lead here on Sunday.

Kohli completed his 15,000 ODI runs during his record-extending century and remained unbeaten on 139 off only 88 balls (10 fours, 9 sixes) as India scored 300/2 in 41.4 overs in reply to the West Indies' 295/7.

India's chase was also spruced up by a 10th ODI hundred from skipper Gill, who scored 110 off 108 balls with 13 fours and a six.

Gill and Kohli added 151 runs for the second wicket after the Indian skipper had put on 74 for the first with Rohit Sharma (32).

Earlier, a century from Justin Greaves (101) and fifties from John Campbell (62) and Amir Jangoo (58 not out) helped West Indies reach 295 for seven.
