Asian games Wushu: Roshibina Devi defeats Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas; advances to finals

Indian wushu player Roshibina Devi advanced to the women’s 60kg Sanda final at the 2026 Asian Games on Wednesday. The win assured India at least a silver medal, being on-par with the country’s best-ever performance in wushu at the Asian Games.

Devi scored 2-0 against Indonesia’s Thania Kusumaningtyas, winning the semi-finals and securing her place for the finals tomorrow.

The wushu player was part of the original squad selected for the Games, however, was placed after Divyanshi Chaudhary was ruled out due to injury.

Earlier, Devi had won a silver at the Hangzhou Asian Games and now has assured another medal whilst aiming for gold in the coming final.

The Indian Wushu player will face China's Zhang Xiaoyu in the final slated for tomorrow.

She defeated Chu Man Sin in the women’s Sanda 60kg quarter-final at the Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall on Tuesday, which advanced her to the semi-finals.

India currently stands at 13th spot in the medal standings with 12 medals to their name.

Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu won the silver medal in the women’s 49kg category and the Indian men’s badminton team secured bronze after losing 3-1 to China in the semi-final.

Raiza Dhillon, Parinaaz Dhaliwal and Maheshwari Chauhan secured bronze in the women’s skeet team event while Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmed Khan and Bhavtegh Singh also won bronze in the men’s skeet team event.

In soft tennis, Jay Meena earned a bronze medal after losing to Japan’s Takuya Kurosaka.
