Rajya Sabha passes Registration of Births and Deaths Amendment Bill 2026

The Rajya Sabha has passed the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026, after the Lok Sabha cleared it on July 31. The legislation was introduced by Union minister of state for home affairs Nityanand Rai.

Births and Deaths Bill 2026 gets Rajya Sabha nod after Lok Sabha approval
New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha on Tuesday passed the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Bill, 2026. The Lok Sabha had passed it on July 31. Union minister of state for home affairs Nityanand Rai presented the bill in the second half of the Rajya Sabha proceedings and a few leaders were allowed to speak on the bill.
