Nagaland CM writes to HM, urges greater parliamentary scrutiny on FCRA

Guwahati: Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio has written to Amit Shah on the proposed FCRA amendments, urging greater parliamentary scrutiny and wider stakeholder consultation, including consideration by a JPC. Rio stated, "I write to you in connection with the apprehensions that have been expressed by various sections of society, particularly the Christian community, regarding the proposed amendments to FCRA. I understand that the Nagaland Baptist Church Council and the Bishop of Kohima, Nagaland, have also made representations to you on this important matter, highlighting the serious difficulties being faced by churches and associated charitable organisations in the state. I would request that their representations may be considered with due sensitivity, particularly in the context of the unique social, historical and developmental circumstances prevailing in Nagaland."
