Mehbooba Mufti appeals to 'secular-minded' people to join protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on September 29

Srinagar: PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday appealed to "secular-minded" people to join a protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on September 29 against "injustices" and to "protect" the country's democracy, brotherhood, and composite culture.

Mehbooba said the protest has been organised by the Monitoring Committee for Indian Muslims.

"You know that today in our country, mosques, shrines, and churches are being demolished with great ruthlessness. Apart from this, in the voter lists that are being prepared, the names of opposition supporters, secular-minded people, and especially Muslims, are being removed," she said in a video posted on her X account.


The former chief minister of J-K said that the Monitoring Committee for Indian Muslims has decided to hold a protest on September 29 from 2 pm to 5 pm at Jantar Mantar against "all these injustices".

"I appeal to all secular-minded people to participate in this and help us protect this country's democracy, this country's brotherhood, and the Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb (composite culture) of this nation," she added.
